Lit review - pls change pdf import title options

When importing pdfs from EndNote to Nvivo, it would be extremely helpful if Nvivo allowed for retention of existing pdf names. Naming imported pdfs by author/year is not helpful if you have authors with more than one pub in the same year. Similarly, titles are sometimes similar. The current process requires manual changes in Nvivo and is inefficient.

i have a similar issue with importing; setting name of file to author/year does not follow conventional reference style of Author-Year (or APA 6th, Harvard style etc); NVivo imports where family names, initials and first names are mixed up for several authors.

Hi Kathleen, you already have the option to list papers by title on import as well as by author and year. This feature already exists in NVivo

Ben Meehan: kathleen is aware of that, but mentions an issue with that.

Ben Meehan: It would be better to be able to customize the naming options when importing from reference managers. Title OR Author, Year being the only two options forces people to work in a particular way, I thought that was what QSR was attempting to get away from (at least this seemed to be the intention years ago).

Chris Atchison: Dear Chris, I don't work for QSR. I am merely trying to make helpful suggestions if someone has a problem with some aspect of the software. I suggest you direct you ire towards those that make the software rather than at trainers who are simply trying to help. If you know anything about databases, you will know that importing from one database to another required field mapping. You cannot map to fields that don't exist.
