Continue where left
When you close Nvivo and reopen it, you need to reopen it all the files you were working on and find where you left off. I think it would be easier if we could chose to reopen it where we left, with the nodes and files open as they were.
easier date coding & timeline
As an action researcher I work with large data sets. Multiple events might happen on one day, with various sources associated to each event. I need to code numerous events over the period of two years. At present what I do is create an excell spreadsheet of all events and give each event a unique ref name then import into NVivo to create cases for each event. I can't do it by date as NVivo currently won't accept the fact that different events might have happened on the same day as the primary label needs to be unique. I create a case for every day of the project in case I recognise new data pertaining to a day in my analysis. When entered in NVivo the second and third columns showing date and event name aren't readily shown, so when I want to code against an event I go back to my excel spread sheet and search for the correct ref name. The whole process is a pain. I would like an easier way to create dated cases. E.g. a button to create an event case for each day over the period of a year or two. and for NVivo to accept that two things might happen in one day (have a second column for the event which distinguishes bnetween two cases on one day). What would be eaven greater is if NVivo automatically created a time line and you could serach the timeline for data pertaining to a date by clicking on a span of a visual timeline.
Text File Dark Mode
It'd be great to view imported text files in an inverted or white-on-gray view to ease eyestrain during coding. The dark mode interface is lovely, but the white text window gets intense after a few hours.
We have used the hierarchy charts as visual of the entire coded project- it was a roadmap of all the different topics & the most discussed issues. Nvivo 9 & 10 used to be great, they had an option of colors red/yellow/green-so we often used the red to talk about the ‘hot” topics. Also, fonts were black so easier to read across diverse groups. Also, I would allow to word wrap feature in displaying this graphic would help/ This particular graphic is an important way to communicate the scope and depth of the overall project without going into all the details. I hope that you can work on updating this graphic.
The most time intensive task in nvivo is coding documents. It will be perfect if an app can be developed which allows users to open projects on the ipad and code documents. This will significantly improve research productivity.Further analysis can remain on the computer versions of the software.
Show users in coding stripes (Mac)
When collaborating in a single project file, my team would like to be able to see each other's codes using coding stripes. I believe this is a feature in Windows, but not for mac.
Double quotes not working in text search queries
Followed a popup request to update to the latest iteration of v12 today (system seems to say I'm n 188.8.131.529, have been running text query searches all day and it appears that using doubl quotes "" as boolean terms to limit searches is not working. The "Exact matches" option is also clearly not working Bug or am I not doing something correctly?
HTML export on mac
I would like to export my nodes as an HTML file to view online, but it doesn't appear to be an available feature for mac.
