Update 12.6 won't install
I click on install update 12.6 and goes through the steps until the "preparing to install" and then it opens the black command type box. And then just stops. It never opens the actual install wizard. When I go to open NVivo again, I get the same message that an update is available, would I like to install, reminded later, or skip update. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Would it be possible to include a recycle bin in future versions? A folder where all deleted nodes go for reviewing before a final delete.
Continue where left
When you close Nvivo and reopen it, you need to reopen it all the files you were working on and find where you left off. I think it would be easier if we could chose to reopen it where we left, with the nodes and files open as they were.
I wish there was much clearer guidance on how to create reports and evidence of that in the Report Output.
should be easier to do transcription in Nvivo. A way of pausing/unpausing while writing in nvivo. and the possibility to have writing and sound side by side
Word cloud resolution
It would be awesome to have the option to create high-resolution images for word clouds and other graphs. It is not user-friendly that this should depend on screen resolution. For a recent project, I ended up shifting to another software.
Allow users to 'Save as...' similarly to any other application we use. Currently we can only copy a project. But changes to your project must be saved before copying! So if you open a project, make a few changes, then want to preserve the original project and save this modified version with another name, you simply can't. You must save the changes, then create a copy with another name, which will be the project at that point in time. So then you have two projects which are exactly the same, with different names. Someone can argue that you should make a copy prior to modifying your project. But that's not how every other software work, and we have a mental model of 'Save as...' as something that allows us to change a file and save it with another name preserving the original version. That's particularly useful for doing thematic analysis, when we merge nodes, move them about and try to simplify the hierarchies, but you want to keep a track of the evolution, say one file per day, to be able to go back to a specific version and redo analysis, for example.
Zoom feature in Nodes/Codes for NVivo 12 Mac
Following coding, it is impossible to zoom in within the expanded node window to make bigger what you coded. This is especially detrimental in region coding. That way, I cannot show what I have coded to collaborators, at meetings/presentations, or for when I teach NVivo.
